Hey everyone, I'm having a hard time understanding the full chemical equation for photosynthesis. Can someone break it down simply?

Sure! The balanced equation is 6CO2 + 6H2O → C6H12O6 + 6O2. It means carbon dioxide and water, with sunlight, create glucose (sugar for energy) and oxygen.

Jane is exactly right. A great way to remember it is that plants "breathe in" CO2 and "drink" water to make their food (glucose), and then they "breathe out" oxygen, which we need!
